The second family was not in the home at the time.
The U.S. Secret Service detained a suspect who was arrested by Cincinnati police after Vice President JD Vance’s Ohio home was vandalized in the early hours of Monday morning. An adult male caused property damage, including breaking several windows of the residence, and is being held on trespassing and vandalism charges.
The Secret Service stated, “The residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident, and the Vice President and his family were not in Ohio.” The vice president’s official residence while serving in his current position is the mansion at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
Secret Service spokesperson Andrew Guglielmi said, “The U.S. Secret Service is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and U.S. Attorney’s Office as charging decisions are reviewed.”
“I appreciate everyone’s well wishes about the attack at our home,” Vice President Vance responded. “As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows. I’m grateful to the Secret Service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly.” The vice president also requested that the media forego showing photos of the home “with holes in the windows” for his children’s sake.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secret Service agents as they protect the first and second families.
- For the safety of President Trump and Vice President Vance.
- For the vice president and second lady as they seek to shield their young children from “the realities of public service.”
